When I dial the internet, it takes a long time after the modem connects before I can start using the connection.
You probably have unnecessary protocols selected. From Control Panel, Internet Properties, select your ISP and click Settings. Click Properties and select the Server Types tab. Clear the Log on to network, NetBeui and IPX/SPX Compatible dialog boxes.
